Public Equity Statement:
Valuing Our Differences

At CSO, we are deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment where all individuals, regardless of their dimensions of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical abilities, religious or political beliefs, or other ideologies, feel valued and supported in their behavioral health journey. CSO’s definition of diversity, equity and inclusion encompasses acceptance and respect, and an understanding that each individual is unique and entitled to equity, including the assurance of health equity in provision of services.  CSO is committed to the exploration of these differences in a positive, safe and nurturing environment, and to understanding one another and moving beyond simple tolerance to embrace and celebrate the rich and diverse dimensions contained within each individual.

We are committed to providing access to high-quality behavioral health services for all members of the community, especially those from historically marginalized and underserved populations. We are dedicated to reducing disparities in mental health care by offering services that are respectful, responsive, and tailored to the cultural contexts of our clients.

To this end, the agency’s service delivery goal is to provide effective, accessible, understandable and respectful care in a manner compatible with consumers’ cultural health beliefs and practices as well as their preferred language. CSO has committed and actively seeks to provide a system of service delivery which will:

  1. Promote Access: Work to eliminate barriers to care by offering affordable and accessible services, providing outreach to underserved populations, and ensuring that all individuals have access to the resources they need to thrive.

  2. Foster Cultural Competency: Continuously train and educate our staff on cultural awareness, social determinants of health, and best practices for delivering inclusive, non-discriminatory care. We value diverse perspectives and aim to create a safe and welcoming environment for all clients.

  3. Support Inclusivity: Ensure that all individuals feel respected, heard, and understood in every interaction with our clinic. We value each person’s unique identity and work to ensure that our services are tailored to honor these differences.

  4. Engage in Continuous Reflection: Regularly evaluate our policies, practices, and outcomes to identify and address any disparities in care, ensuring that we are consistently advancing toward a more equitable, inclusive, and just organization.

We recognize that equity is an ongoing journey and are committed to making meaningful strides in improving access to mental health services for all. By upholding these principles, we aim to create a behavioral health environment that is fair, just, and empowering for every individual we serve.
